INTRO COURSE
Introduction to Web Design, 3 HOURS
If you want to learn about web design, but don't know where to begin, this one-evening, introductory class is for you. Whether you desire the skills to build a web site for yourself, or want to become a professional web designer, this class will explain the fundamentals of web design. The lecture will include an overview of web design and discussion of the vast potential of the web and key web vocabulary from HTML to CSS. In addition, the instructor will build a website using Dreamweaver with graphics made in Photoshop and animation created in Flash. Adobe Indesign CS4, 21 HOURS
Learn to use Adobe InDesign CS4, the powerful page-layout application that is the industry standard for print design. InDesign is ideal for creating multipage documents including magazines, brochures, fliers, pamphlets, newsletters, catalogs and interactive pdf documents. It also integrates with other Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator to enable seamless workflow in print design. InDesign combines the power of a word processor with a drawing tool to allow you to design, create, and manage your projects from idea to print. Adobe Photoshop CS4, 21 HOURS
Learn Adobe Photoshop, the fundamental graphics application used in the computer graphics industry. You will learn to use its tools for image manipulation, composition, painting and much more. This course will focus on the fundamentals of Photoshop, including selections, layers, masking, photo retouching, filters and optimization for the web. Proficiency with Windows or Mac OS is required. Adobe Illustrator is the powerful drawing program used by graphic design professionals. It provides unique illustration tools for drawing, painting, text manipulation, page layout, tile design and optimization for the web. Flash Site 1, 5 HOURS
Understand the basics of site construction by deconstructing a completed Flash site. In this 5-hour class you'll START to build your own Flash site that includes navigation to at least four sections (home, about us, gallery, and contact), a gallery section (with separate navigation) and a movie clip that runs even when the site is stopped. Visit http://faculty.ccc.edu/asteinkamp/portfolio.html for an example site. Important--You will NOT have time to complete a site in class. Bring a sketch (paper or digital) of your proposed site.

Photoshop to CSS Workshop, 4 HOURS
Construct a webpage using Adobe Photoshop and CSS. In this workshop, Alexis Steinkamp will help you design a web page layout in Photoshop, including selecting and arranging colors, fonts, graphics and photographs in separate layers. Then Joy Walker will help you develop a CSS style sheet that renders the design into XHTML (including sliced images from the original Photoshop file).
