Demonstration Equipment
Geology
- Rock samples
- Used in rocks lab
- Mineral samples
- Used in minerals lab
- Geology models
- 8 different models, used in Geo
Models lab
- Fault illustration model blocks
- Various geologic maps
- Super high-tech S-wave and P-wave demo equipment
- (slinky spring!)
- Foam Sponges
- Colored
foam sponges for demonstrating folding (synclines, anticlines)
- Stream tables
- This is a very messy lab/demo!

Meteorology
- Tornado in a bottle
- Two clear 2L soda bottles attached
at the neck, one bottle is half filled with a blue solution. By inverting
and swirling, you can generate a tornado effect.
- Relative humidity demonstration
- One large beaker, half filled with water, represents 50% humidity at a given
temperature. Pour the water into a much smaller beaker, representing the capacity
of air to hold water at a lower temperature, and what happens?
- Aneroid barometer
- Various pressure gauges
- "Zero Blaster"
- This toy generates artificial smoke rings. May be useful for discussing
air flow and clouds. Cool demo. Personal property of Charles Abrams
