B roader terms? What are they? Identify them.

U nique? Is the keyword or phrase unique?

N arrower terms? What are they? Identify them.

S ynonyms for the term? What are they? Identify them.

Boolean Operators-Refining keyword searches

The following terms, known as Boolean operators can be used to refine searches by combining the terms and producing special effects. These Boolean operators are:

AND

OR

NOT

For example "Bill Clinton" OR "Hillary Clinton" will retrieve all references to either term. OR will expand the number of results retrieved.

"Bill Clinton" AND Monica will reduce the number of results retrieved by only returning references where both terms occur.

"Bill Clinton" NOT Starr will also reduce the number of results retrieved by only returning references with the phrase "Bill Clinton" but rejecting any references that contain both terms.

It may be necessary to, in some way, bind keywords together into a phrase,as done in the example with quotation marks.
