INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOTE ACCESS TO LIBRARY DATABASESThe Thomas J. Kelly Library of Richard J. Daley College is now offering off-campus access to some electronic library databases. Remote access to these databases is available only to current Daley College students, faculty, and staff. Student Instructions:First! You must first determine your official CCC student e-mail address. Anyone who is currently taking a class at Daley will automatically be assigned a CCC student e-mail address. To find out what your CCC student e-mail address is, you can go to the CCC Student E-mail page and retrieve you student email address. Remote access will not work without this. If you currently use another email service you can foward your CCC email there. Find out how. Next! After finding out your CCC e-mail address, go to the Library Catalog page and click on the “Online Databases” link. This brings you to the database menu page. Here you must select your school in the drop down menu and then click on a database that you want to search. This brings you to the "Web Access Management Login" page. Four steps are involved at the "Web Access Management Login" page. : Step 1: Enter your Name in the format "Last Name, First Name". If your login fails, add your middle initial a fter your first name. For example: Smith, Michael A Step 2: Enter your official CCC e-mail address Step 3: Enter your 4-digit PIN (First-time users: If you do not have your 4-digit PIN, you can enter any four digits and then you can create your own PIN on the next screen.) Step 4: Once your PIN is validated, you will get into the database that you have chosen. Note: if you have problems setting up your off-campus access to the library databases, please contact the library at 773-838-7668. View a power point presentation that walks you through the four steps. Faculty/Staff Instructions:Faculty and staff can enjoy 24/7 access to the library databases from remote locations. In order to take advantage your name has to be in the library system. If you already have a Daley Library card, you are in the system and ready to create your 4-digit PIN. If you do not have a library card, and want your name to be in our library system, send an email to Jose Contreras titled "Off-campus Access", with the following information: 1. Your last name, first name, & middle initial 2. Your ccc email address (if you are using non-CCC email account) 3. Your department 4. Your tel. number After we set up your patron record, you will receive an email, you will then ready to create your PIN. If you have any problems setting up your account, contact Don, Siew , or Ashok. When you are ready to create your 4-digit PIN go to the Library Catalog page and click on the “Online Databases” link. This brings you to the database menu page. If you forget your pin please email Jose Contreras with a message "PIN forgotten" and give your last name, first name and middle initial. After he has updated your patron record, he will email you to create another PIN the next time you try to log on.
