The Global Friendship Club was started in year 1991 by Ms. Eileen Lucietto. At first it was funded by the National Association for Foreign Advisors and called "Project Friendship". Later it adopted the name Global Friendship Club and has since become known as an active international club at Harold Washington College . Its mission is to promote friendship and understanding between American and international students at the College. The Club holds potluck dinners, outings and field trips, assists in a Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless, sponsors activities, such as a children's book drive, an annual ski trip and the spring International Festival. All students at HWC are welcome to join the Club.
