Student Resource Center
Community wellness is central to Harold Washington College's mission;
as such, the Student Resource Center is committed to supporting and
empowering all members of the college community, with students being
its primary focus. To accomplish this mission, the Student Resource
Center will:
* Offer confidential individual and group consultations,
* Facilitate community forums and workshops,
* Provide access to needed referrals and resources, and
* Establish and maintain networks with community organizations.
HWC STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER GENERAL INFORMATION:
Harold Washington College is committed to assisting students, faculty,
and staff with handling life situations that may interfere with the
achievement of academic, professional, or personal goals.
The Student Resource Center recognizes that the health of our community
is based on the health of each individual and thus can be affected
by the following circumstances:
* Insufficient day care
* Inadequate support from employers and co-workers
* Difficult interpersonal relationships
* Sudden, disruptive changes in lifestyle or personal security
* Poor stress, anger, or time management skills
* Abusive home situations
HOW CAN THE STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER ASSIST YOU:
The Student Resource Center can assist you in managing tensions that
may limit your performance both in school and on the job. Individual
and Group consultations and workshops are offered in areas such as:
* Referrals to Harold Washington College offices and/or outside agencies
* Self-esteem workshops
* Interpersonal relations
* Harassment and abuse
* Stress Management
* Child-care resources
WHERE IS THE STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER LOCATED? WHO DO WE SERVE?
Located in Room 713 on Harold Washington College’s campus, the
Student Resource Center is open to all students, faculty, and staff
regardless of race, sex, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation,
or creed.
FREE OF CHARGE TO HWC COMMUNITY:
The Student Resource Center is committed to promoting wellness and
optimal learning at no cost to students, faculty, and staff. Please
join us at our scheduled workshops, which will be posted throughout
the college.
