Tutoring

The Academic Support Center (or HWC Tutoring Center), free to all Harold Washington College students, offers tutoring in several academic subject areas for all Harold Washington College students.

Students who are attending classes and completing their assignments can gain a deeper comprehension of their subject areas by participating in group and individual tutoring sessions in the various academic areas of study. Staffed by both students and faculty, the center provides guidance in General Education courses in addition to many advanced courses. On-going sessions are offered in General Education courses. Drop-in service is available or students can make appointments. Study groups can also be arranged.

Areas of study for tutoring include some or all of the following subjects:
Accounting, Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Economics, English, English As A Second Language (ESL), French, History, Humanities, Japanese, Literature, Math, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Social Science, Spanish, and Speech.

Hours of operation for the Tutoring Center during the Fall and Spring semesters are:

* Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
* Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
* Saturday: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Hours of operation for the Tutoring Center during the Summer semester are:
* Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am to 7:00 pm
* Friday: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
* Saturday and Sunday: closed

Note: The HWC Tutoring Center will also offer tutoring services to Spring 2007 students who have registered for the Fall 2007 term. This is new and is being provided as a retention tool.
