Undergraduate Research Center

Harold Washington College is a leading institution for the inclusion of research as pedagogy. Dr. Tom Higgins is the P.I. on an NSF funded URC grant, through which students make research an active component of their education.

Research Experience for Teachers (RET)

Professor Mike Davis has previously participated in, and is now the Program Director for the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) RET program at Northwestern University. Through this program high school and community college teachers spend their summer as part of research team, working on some nanotechnology project. Simultaneously they work on a curriculum project, reflective of their research to integrate nanotechnology into their classrooms.
