Thomas W. Sills has been associated with Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, since 1989, and with the City Colleges since 1981. He has held several teaching positions over the years and has worked on course and lab development. He currently holds the position of professor of physical science.His diverse professional career in science education includes test development, science toy design, science teacher training, reviewing college physics textbooks, and acting as science consultant to programs for the gifted. He was also faculty coordinator of telecourses on Channel 20/Chicago educational television, including The Mechanical Universeand Planet Earth. He is author of two books, Science Fun in Chicagoland and Science Fun with Toys.
In high school he received an award at the International Science Fair for his student science project on learning and memory. In 1967 he taught college physical science for elementary teachers as his first teaching assignment. In 1977 he received his Ph.D. in physics and education at Purdue University.
Dr. Sills is a serious collector of books and manuscripts on science and technology. But most of all, he enjoys going to new places to meet new people in order to stimulate ideas. "Doing adventuresome things is just plain fun."
