Basic Skills High Scrap Rates
• Low Employee Morale •
High Accident Rate These are all symptoms of poor basic skills in the workplace. Over 60 percent of frontline workers in the goods-producing industry cannot match information in a text to the required task if any inference is involved, and cannot integrate information from several sources. Nearly 33 million people in the United States speak languages other than English - a 38 percent increase in the last two years. You are not alone in your need to raise the level of the basic skills in your workforce. We offer programming for this foundational level. Needs are analyzed, employees are assessed, and a program is developed using company materials to meet company goals. Programs are competency based and have a pre- and post-test to measure learning. Weekly competencies are given to supervisors and other leaders so in-class learning can be transferred, supported and assessed on the job. All of our instructors have higher degrees and/or practical experience in workplace, adult learning. The classroom environment is encouraging, supportive, and creative with information and tools that can be applied immediately on the job. No matter which basic skill your employees need: English as a Second Language, Applied Math, Reading Comprehension for Native Speakers, Problem Solving, or Communication, Wright College's Business & Industry Services can design an effective program to support the standards projected for your company.
