Welcome to the support site for Chemistry 201 Section KLQ at Harold Washington College. Using technology such as space aged polymers, stain resistant pants, nano-robots, the Sham-Wow, Al Gore's internets, and the navigation on the left, you should be able to find materials that will help you gain an appreciation for the world of first semester General Chemistry. Its a great place to be as anyone can tell you. Just start your sentences with 'I learned in my chemistry class..." and marvel at all the people still listening.
This class is your introduction to General Chemistry. Its not an introduction to something totally unfamiliar. This class assumes that you have some working knowledge of things like the periodic table, balancing chemical equations, the laws of thermodynamics, and ligers (pretty much my favorite animal). We will get some solid practice with those concepts, and by the end of the class you will be a world-class chemical diplomat. Your friends will be duly impressed.
Oh, there's also lab. Did I mention that we do lab? We get our hands wet on a weekly basis to learn some of the fundamental techniques that makes chemistry possible. We should emerge with as many fingers as we started with, if not more.
Suffice to say I love this stuff. Some people love puppies, rainbows, unicorns, and their children. I think those things are just boss, but chemistry is something truly incredible. I hope a little of that rubs off and you get to see the excitement that dozens of people write text books about.
So sit back, relax, have some coffee, and get ready to have some fun.
